Since 1995, Andrew C. Florance has been CEO of CoStar Group, Inc. which he founded in 1987. Andy positioned CoStar to become the leading provider of comprehensive, building-specific information to the U.S. commercial real estate industry. Today, headquartered in Bethesda, MD, CoStar Group is the nation's largest digital provider of commercial real estate information and analysis. Through internal development, extensive research and strategic acquisitions, CoStar has compiled comprehensive proprietary databases that cover 54 markets and track leasing and sales transactions on more than 15 billion square feet of commercial real estate and over 950,000 tenants. CoStar Group has over 3,600 client firms using its accurate, up-to-date and state-of-the-art software packages and information services to facilitate their real estate transactions. In 1999, CoStar was named a Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 Company.Prior to founding the company, Andy was President of Real Estate Infonet, a real estate public records publishing firm, which was later acquired by Dow Jones. From 1989-1993, he was the publisher of Cornerstone, a leading directory to Washington area commercial real estate, and from 1993-96, Andy was a co-founder and board member of the industry trade association REI-NEX. In January 2000, National Real Estate Investor named Andy Florance one of the "21 Stars of Tomorrow" for his work as a technological leader in the commercial real estate industry. Commercial Real Estate Woman (CREW) recognized Andy Florance with its 15th anniversary award for industry innovation for his work with commercial real estate information systems. He served on the real estate focus group of Vice President Al Gore's National Performance Review that developed the concepts related to the federal government's use of real estate. In addition, the Federal Control Board of the District of Columbia named him to a task force responsible for developing the city's strategic plan for real estate. Andy is a frequent speaker and is widely published on the subject of real estate technology and trends. He is a graduate of Princeton University with a degree in economics.
