You get 'em all the time - messages with links to click. And in recent years many of the links have something like "tinyurl" or "" as the domain. These are shortened URLs that make convenient for legitimate people and companies to make a clickable URL easier to handle and digest. For example a lengthy YouTube URL like: becomes

But sometimes the evil guys use shortened URLs to lead you to bad places. The nice folks that bring you this trick give you a simple place where you can paste the shortened URL in a box and instantly see where it will take you.

Because they decrypt and analyze the short URL in real time, before clicking and visiting the websites hidden behind these links, you can view the actual URL and also get a safety recommendation.

We'll bet that a lot of people cuss when they try to dial a phone number where the owner decided to make it show words - like 237-GET-MONEY. Looking at the phone keys then back to the words several times is enough to make a theologian say bad words.
