Ever have a friend brag that she received a greeting card from the White House? Now you can trump her by telling her that you received two cards from the white house one for your birthday and the other for the birth of your new great grandson (or whatever).
The White House will send greeting cards signed by the President of the United States to commemorate special events, accomplishments or milestones free of charge to U.S. citizens. The following information will help you pull off this coup.
|
Your request may be submitted through the "Constituent Services" function of any one of your U.S. Senators or U.S. Representatives. Requests can also be mailed, at least six weeks in advance of the event to: White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20500. You should know that there are certain restrictions and that you may have to wait for months to get the card while they get the President to sit down and sign his mail. Your anniversaries need to be for at least 50 years and birthday greetings will only go out to those 80 and older. Other rules and tweaks are listed at the web site. Great information for the big shots amongst us!
