A significant portion of cell and landline users currently use caller ID. There may be times when you may want to hide your identity from these people.

If you want your mobile number to temporarily appear from a private number, just dial *82 (star 82) before dialing the number you're calling. This can come in handy, but remember that some people automatically decline calls from phones that block caller ID.

Here are the instructions on how to hide your phone number through your cell phone's settings. Note that this feature is not available on a few mobile carriers.

Here's how to hide or show your number on a regular basis on an iPhone

1. Go to Settings
2. Tap 'Phone'
3. Press Show My Caller ID
4. Use the toggle switch to show or hide your number.

Now you are the invisible man ------------- or woman.

Trick 1

Do you ever get strange calls from someone who either hangs up, asks strange questions, tries to sell you abominable products or services or was just plain obnoxious? If you have caller ID you can go to this interesting place, type in the caller's number and access reports from others who have been offended by the same culprit.

This neat place has lots of other search functions and information about telemarketing, harassing calls and the Do Not Call Registry.

Very helpful.
