Tired on paying through the nose for the programs you use most every day? Might be worth five minutes to check out Libre Office - the close twin to Microsoft's highfalutin Office package - which costs you big bucks to buy - and a nosebleed every year to rent.

Libre Office comes with six programs: Write (word processing), Calc (spreadsheets), Impress (presentation), Base (database management), Draw (vector graphics) and Math (mathematical formulae). It's free to use on Windows, Mac, and Linux desktops.
