If you are tired of being blasted off the couch by a TV commercial - or from neighbors two blocks over calling for you to turn down your TV sound? Even the US government recognizes that some stations rev up the decibels of their ads to get the viewers' attention - even though this practice annoys all of us - and in many cases may violate the law.

Now you can fight back. The FCC provides a place where you can file your complaint with specific information about TV commercials that seem louder than the programming they accompany.

They will evaluate individual complaints about the reported commercial and track it to determine if there are patterns or trends that suggest a need for enforcement action. If they find repetitions from the same miscreant, they will jump all over the rascal.

Then you will have your peaceful revenge.

Great news -- CPR has been simplified - leaving no excuse for not knowing what to do - and no excuse for not springing into action when needed. AARP has published its latest update on how to save family and friends lives in an emergency using this new and easier process.

Here's a quick summary. as provided by these thoughtful people:

How to perform basic hands-only CPR:
Call 911 or have someone else do it. (If you make the call, put the phone on speaker while you start compressions.)
Place both of your hands, one on top of the other, in the middle of the person's chest.
Press down hard and then relax to let the chest rebound.
Repeat the press-and-relax motion to the beat of the Bee Gees' classic disco song "Stayin' Alive." (You should do at least 100 compressions a minute.)
Don't stop until help arrives.

To be ready, cut, paste and stick this summary on the refrigerator -- or put it in your wallet.
